Review

The Omron HEM-780 is the most popular blood pressure monitor available today.  It's more expensive than many other monitors, but it comes with loads of extra features.  Although it is the best selling blood pressure monitor, it probably is not the very best monitor due to some reliability issues, but for the most part it is a recommended model.

Even though the Omron HEM-780 has a lot of extras, most people will want it for its ease of use.  This blood pressure monitor includes the Omron IntelliSense feature, which automatically inflates the cuff to the level of your arm.  This helps to ensure a comfortable and more accurate reading.  Also, the ComFit cuff can fit a very wide range of arm size, ranging between 9 and 17 inches.  The large digital display is also nice, since it makes it very easy to read you results.

In addition to being easy to use, this blood pressure monitor comes with lots of extras.  It can keep track of a number of statistics that will help you accurately measure your blood pressure over time.  With a total memory of 200 units, date and time recording, and an advanced averaging system, the HEM-7780 will keep track of everything you need to know.  With all these statistics automatically recorded, you won't have to worry about writing everything down.  And unlike most blood pressure monitors, this one features a 2-user plus guest mode.

There are also a number of more basic features.  Like many blood pressure monitors, this one will also detect an irregular heartbeat.  It also has the nice features of tracking morning hypertension.  The plastic storage case is another nice little extra, which is especially good if you do a lot of traveling.

Since it's easy to use and there are a lot of great features, this is a good blood pressure monitor, though be aware that there are some potential problems with it.  Some people find that over time, the Omron HEM-780 tends to lose accuracy.  It can start to give ratings that are 10 to 15 units too high.  A lot of the time, this happens as a result of the cuff breaking down, in which case you would need a new one.  Since there is a five year warranty, this should be done free of charge.  Also, some people start to get error messages over time, and again this is usually a problem with the cuff.  However, chances are you won't have these problems for several years, so this remains a recommended blood pressure monitor.
